The child saddle is designed specifically for the Fr8 and because of the Fr8’s frame geometry and long wheelbase the adult still has ample room to pedal even with an 8 year old on the child saddle. It could be that you travel to work every day by a combination of bike & train travel and getting your Fr8 in and out of the train station bike parking is easier without the front carrier. A perfect commuter! The Gr8 was always intended to be a city bicycle. The Gr8’s frame is more compact than the Fr8 and tuned for riding with a light or no load. With it’s shorter frame, smaller tires, thinner tubing, fenders, rear carrier and several other parts it's much lighter than the Fr8 without sacrificing stiffness or strength. When designing the Gr8 our focus shifted to reducing the volume as much as possible while still remaining a full-sized Dutch bike to fit a broad range of riders. The mounting points for the front and rear carriers are the same on both Fr8 and Gr8. Bags, crates, baskets, add whatever you like to make your Gr8 complete.

Kids love to be sitting up front on the bike. The Fr8 Twins set-up lets the children take turns in the front and on the back. A universal frame, carriers, integrated child saddle and our rear single seat. A setup that’s highly suited for a family with two children that are close in age, or the same age. Kids love to be in the front seat on the bike, so much so that it can lead to arguments between children over who gets to sit up front. One of the nice things about the Fr8 Twins setup is that the children can take turns sitting up front. The Fr8 child saddle is suitable for a child of 4 to around 8 years and the Fr8 single seat is for a child of 5+ years. The chromoly Fr8 frame is strong and exceptionally stiff, one child on the front and one on the back does not affect the handling. In fact riding this way actually balances the weight nicely on the bike and because of the Fr8’s frame geometry and long wheelbase both rider and passengers have plenty of room. The Fr8 also looks more elegant as the bulky bucket type child seats are no longer necessary. Drop the kids at school before work and pick them up when the day is done. It’s a bike that’s meant for a family with three school age children, or a family with two children who want some extra room on the bike so a friend can tag along. The Fr8 child saddle is suitable for a child of 4 to around 8 years and the Fr8 double seat is for one or two children of 5+ years. The chromoly Fr8 frame is strong and exceptionally stiff, one child on the front and two on the back does not affect the handling. The double seat bakes full use of the long rear carrier and footrest mounting points, additional rear panniers aren't possible. However you can still add a large crate to the front carrier for all your shopping and gear. Though the Fr8 triple is outfitted for maximum child transport capacity it still looks charming as the those bulky bucket type seats are no longer necessary.
